Is it time for the UK to send some of its great music to Eurovision instead of the X Factor rejects?

So yet again the UK has come last in Eurovision with null points. Its become a tradition. A slap in the face for the disunited kingdom. Literally a pointless tradition for a country obsessed with pop culture and teaming with talent. A country with so much talent that deserves the big stage and can shine ad cut through despite the showbiz shenanigans of Eurovision.

Why is it that very year we send some 10th rate bottom of the table X factor singer. This is what happens to the wonder of pop when its left in the hands of bean counters and timid safety first corporate suits.

Year in year out we play so safe that we deserve to come last. Of course in real terms it all matters little and Eurovision is often just for laughs but with so little pop culture on the TV why not use the rare opportunity to play with the space and throw caution to the wind and send some of the raw and brilliant talent from the UK streets and rehearsal rooms onto the stage watched by millions.

Whether it’s the lest from the drill or grime scenes, or some of the great pop we do like a Charli XCX or cutting-edge edge indie like LIINES or Dry Cleaning – lets show the huge audience what we do best and even if they get null points I bet you that it will give them a platform for their music.
