It’s just come to light that Ed Sheeran happily dedicated a song to Prime Minister David Cameron at a recent private party.
Amusingly the song was his hit single “The A-Team”, a ballad with lyrics that speak of a crack-addicted prostitute and which was written after Sheeran visited a homeless shelter and heard some of the stories of the lives people had been living – many of whom were probably in that situation because of the tories swingeing attacks on the welfare state!
“I met David Cameron the other day, really randomly…”
…Sheeran explained during a Q&A at #AmazonFrontRow.
The story goes that the PM was accidentally at the same party and was evidently a fan of Sheeran’s as he was singing along to his set, and, when someone asked Sheeran to dedicate a song to the PM he happily obliged. If it weren’t for the fact that it was the only song left in his repertoire we might have assumed he was making a political point, but it seems that’s not the case…
“All I had left to perform was “The A Team”, said Sheeran, “So I had to go with that and say, ‘this one’s for David’.”
