Bristol has a new festival. Called ArcTanGent it’s set in a farm a few miles south of the city it’s slant is that of art-rock, math-folk & post-dance, as well as making black metal, noise, post screamo &, well, all variations therein.
Every year a clutch of new festivals pop up, vying for our attention in what’s already a pretty packed festival season. One of this years new “festivals on the block” is ArcTanGent, brought to us courtesy of the same people behind the excellent 2000trees, and it promises to be brilliant and noisy affair.
Set in a beautiful farm location just 10 miles from Bristol they’ve understandably got a lot of that cities better artists lined up to play, as well as picking the cream of crop of similar such artists who fit their remit from around the country.
The organisers are promising the festival will focus on the experimental / post-rock / progressive / left-field side of things, which makes the headliners, Fuck Buttons, a perfect choice.
The site has only a 3,000 capacity so you’re not advised to dilly dally in terms of buying your tickets. It’s taking place on 29th – 31st August and costs a mere £59 for a weekend ticket, for which you’ll get 3 nights camping, 4 stages & over 80 bands.
A few of the bands playing includes: 65daysofstatic, Fuck Buttons, And So I Watch You From Afar, Three Trapped Tigers, Rolo Tomassi, Turbowolf, Future of The Left, Dragged Into Sunlight, Bo Ningen, Public Servide Broadcasting, Fairhorns, Castrovalva + loads more – check the website for details!
